Bariatric Surgery Abroad

We are aware of increasing incidents of patients travelling overseas, particularly to Türkiye, to undertake private bariatric surgery.

If you have chosen to go abroad please note the guidance HERE. We would like to encourage you to discuss your plans with a GP before making any final decisions about travel or medical arrangements.  The NHS site in the link above advises that patients need to ensure that they are clear about how aftercare will be coordinated. Patients who seek bariatric surgery abroad privately should also arrange ongoing post-procedure follow up within the UK on a private basis, this will not be provided on the NHS.
